Sri Narayana Guru (A social reformer plus a saint) consecrated the Shivalinga on this temple in 1912. Learning about the effort undertaken by Sri Narayana Guru in establishing social equality through his temple in Shivagiri, Kerala, a prominent Billawa leader from Mangalore, Sahukar Koragappa visited the Guru together with the leaders with the community in 1908. The delegation appraised Sri Narayana Guru around the problems faced through the Billawas in admission from the community into your temple at Mangalore. Sri Narayana Guru visited Mangalore on invitation with this delegation and ascertained for himself, the exactness in the then prevailing situation. After see the place, Sri Narayana Guru himself selected the area in Kudroli and advised the town elders of a suitable location to make a temple and the task began under his direction around 1908. Elders including Sahukar Koragappa took the initiative in ensuring smooth progress inside temple's construction.

Sri Narayana Guru himself formally consecrated the temple in February 1912 by installing the Sacred Shiva Linga, which had been brought by him. He also named this place as Shree Gokarnanatha Kshethra. Sri Narayana Guru advocated that of God's creation had the authority to worship the Almighty and preached men and women irrespective from the caste, creed or religion must worship one divine force, known by different names.

As per the Guru's advice, idols of Lord Ganapathy, Lord Subramanya, Goddess Annapoorneshwari, Lord Bhairava, the Nava Grahas (Lords of Nine Planets), Lord Shanishwara and Lord Shri Krishna is installed in the Kshethra. This has helped devotees to worship whatsoever these sannidanams (abode) and seek blessings and solace for varied problems at one place

Tata Tiago Mangalore


April 06, 2016: Tata Motors has launched its new hatchback - the Tiago at a starting price of INR 3.20 Lakhs for the petrol and INR 3.94 Lakhs for the diesel (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Bookings for the Tata Tiago commenced earlier at a cost of INR 10,000.The latest hatchback from Tata has been crafted on a new platform with fresh design philosophy, never seen before in Tata cars. The Tiago will be coming with a diesel, as well as a petrol mill. The former is a 1.05-litre unit, capable of generating 69bhp of power with a peak torque of 140Nm and the latter is a 1.2-litre engine, churning out 84bhp and 114Nm. The car is expected to deliver a mileage of over 20 kmpl. The vehicle will be locking horns with the Maruti Celerio and the Hyundai i10 in the segment.

The State Government has approved a proposal from the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to construct a modern bus stand at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district in the public-private partnership (PPP) model, sources inside the Mangalore Division from the KSRTC said.

This is among the most first PPP-model proposal approved for construction of an KSRTC bus stand here.

Puttur can be a prominent arecanut trading centre from the region. Being the taluk headquarters, it is usually a fast-developing town.

Sources, on condition of anonymity, said riding on the bus stand could well be built on 2.5 acres of land adjoining the prevailing one, which is not spacious enough to meet up with the requirements on the growing town.

They said the individual chosen to undertake the work gives you certain mandatory facilities. The agency would maintain commercial revenue earned because of the facilities (shops and hoardings) at public transit stand. However, it will have to pay KSRTC a particular royalty.

“Tentatively it's extremely. The Government is yet to finalise the details from the agreement,” a senior KSRTC official told The Hindu.

The sources also said the division would construct two new depots in Mangalore, one from the city and another on B.C. Road. The KSRTC also planned show them bus services within metropolis. The new depot here could be built at Kuntikana near the present one. Construction would begin in several days. It was required to be done by July. Work on the depot at B.C. Road had begun and would end by May, the sources said. Once the new depot at Kuntikana is ready, will probably be the third bus depot in Mangalore.

The KSRTC promises to entrust 100 schedules (one schedule may be the onward and return journey of the bus in the depot) daily to the next depot.

In addition, the depot at B.C. Road are going to be asked to handle 60 schedules per day. At present, its two depots from the city handle 276 schedules daily. The burden with the two depots is going to be shared from the third depot. It will help handle the process of city buses too, the sources said.

They said the district administration was prone to hand over six acres of land to KSRTC within several days so that a depot could possibly be built at Sullia. The KSRTC have also been planning on establishing a depot at Kukke Subramanya.

In addition, a bus stand would be also built at B.C. Road. Land amounting one.5 acres with the aim had been identified. The Mangalore City Corporation seemed to be planning to construct a modern bus stand at Uppinangady, the sources said.

The pool run through the district administration has nine Austswim certified instructors. International swimmer and coach Partha Varanashi will be the lease owner of the pool. He will be the only Austswim presenter in the united states.

Partha said Austswim Bronze is really a basic certification awarded through the Australian institution.

"To get Austswim accreditations, a pool is predicted to maintain a clear set of standards. Once these basic requirements are met, the pool is awarded the bronze certification. It will be and then silver and gold grades. Austswim team visited the pool in June this year" he added.

Partha said, "They started giving swimming lessons to schoolchildren through the last academic year. Balavana has joined hands with several schools in Puttur to add swimming inside their curriculum. Over 400 underprivileged schoolchildren are taught swimming without cost as part of an initiative launched in association with Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. The pool been specifically declared as being a centre for Rashtriya Life Saving Society (RLSS)."

The Austswim accreditation is known as the industry standard for swimming and water safety teachers. At present, you can find over 32,000 Austswim teachers in Australia.
